The grand opening of the 2023 festival

This year we have decided to open the 9th edition of the Jerusalem Jazz Festival a little different and to gather around the spirit of jazz artists and bands that will take you on a deep and vibrating trip in their musical worlds.

American Dave Douglas will join Alon Farber’s Hagiga to open the evening with a colorful interpretations to their music.
After them, Big Vicious band, led by our artistic director, Avishai Cohen, will featire the local soul diva Esther Rada for a session that will last much longer than we can promise.

The sequel will take us to the musical magic known as Boubacar Traoré (Mali), that will connect us to the Sahrawi blues of Tarwa N-Tiniri who come from Morocco.
In between you could catch a breakthrough performance by the Israeli group Monolyt, soak up the pure afro tunes of DJ Blumi and a colorful art complex designed by the OFFBiT collective.

The whole evening will take place outside, on the Crown stage viewing Jerusalem, in the cool summer air of the city. Come celebrate with us!

* On Wednesday and Thursday evenings the festival will take place in the familiar format, and the gates of the museum and the sculpture garden will be opened to wander between 6 stages and among musicians and art from all over the world.
