The Beatniks Are Coming: And the Beat Goes ON

ISRAEL

Original Production, The Beatniks Are Coming: And the Beat Goes ON

Jazz is about rhythm, rhythmical musical sentences that join together at a singular and unique moment. Especially for this festival, the Tiruf Ensemble has come together, led by the man and beat Uzi Ramirez, to create a new contemporary piece. It seems that not much has changed since that beatnik group entered American consciousness, and from there to the entire world, for being edgy and providing self, non-conforming expression. The hippy generation was inspired by them and created some of the most beautiful pieces we know, but we all know how that ended. Perhaps it is our time to be inspired by them and react to what rages around us in this Israeli and global reality.
21st century: you did not invent hipsters! Be a bit more logical and help us welcome the other, the parallel and just as interesting and creative path.

We have invited our friends to correspond with the texts of Ginsburg and Kerouac, Burroughs, and other beat generation artists, to say what is on their hearts: Noam Schuster Eliasi, Miss “No Jokes,” will help us mediate the affair (she’s a master).
Poet Gilad Meiri, with some love for the Hebrew beat and original material, along with the First Lady of Groove, Carolina, will take us on a cosmic journey at the land of beat.

Original Production: The Beatniks Are Coming

In the current polarized dialogue, a culture of boycotts and difficulty seeing the other, we would like to remind ourselves that art can bring people together.
Poetry, a short story, and jazz come from different places and so they branch out later on, but at a certain time in the mid-20th century, they had one thing in common, and that moment will last as long as we shine a special light on it.

In order to create a new, contemporary piece, we set out on a journey on two plans of connecting the ideas, texts and principles of freedom of speech with the ecstatic nature of Swing and the essence of a sober, contemporary look that is opened to the new buttons, which emerged into this world and affects us more than anything.

This is why we have invited spoken word and jazz people to correspond with the texts of Allan Ginsburg, Jack Kerouac, William Burroughs, Charles Bukowski and other glorified beat generation artists, and we have curated two exhibition shows to show off the multiple levels of beat.
