Downbeat Magazine‘s “Clarinetist of the Year” every year for over a decade, Anat Cohen has played in countless Jazz ensembles around the world. Marcello Gonçalves is one of the most esteemed 7-string guitarists in Brazil and founded the first academic course devoted to this instrument in Rio de Janeiro.
Taking a break from their extensive musical solo careers, Cohen and Gonçalves will team up on one stage to bring us magic fusing Jazz, Samba and the marvelous indigenous Brazilian music of Moacir Santos, one of Brazil’s greatest Bossa Nova composers. Their joint album Outra Coisa: The Music of Moacir Santos was nominated for the GRAMMY award for Best Latin Jazz Album.
Listening to Cohen’s samba rhythm, you can easily mistake her for a born and raised Brazilian. The collaboration with Gonçalves is thrilling and natural – a beating heart of fascinating artistic creation, an enchanting musical flow of two who are one.
A must-see “something else” show!
