Raised on the family farm in the Judean mountains, Gamlieli was fascinated from a very young age by the power of music to evoke universal emotions and bring people together. How fortunate for us that he chose a career in music over farming Inspired by artists such as Charlie Haden, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Avishai Cohen, and Chet Baker, Gamlieli collaborated with prominent musicians like Danilo Perez, Jerry Bergonzi, Joanne Brackeen, and Liz Wright. He collaborated with trumpeter Avishai Cohen on his debut album “Dania” and with saxophonist Dayna Stephens on the album “Change of Heart.”
Gamlieli (double bass), Moshe Elmakias (piano), and Amir Bar Akiva (drums) perform regularly at international jazz festivals and in the jazz clubs of New York, Chicago, and Boston. Now, Gamlieli returns to his hometown and offers us a glimpse into his trio show, right here at the Jerusalem Jazz Festival.
