Roni Eytan Quartet
Despite his young age, the brilliant young harmonicist has made quite a mark on the global Jazz scene. Eytan, born in Jerusalem, went on any Jazz musician’s dream course – beginning at the Jerusalem Academy of Music, earning a scholarship to study at Berklee College’s renowned Jazz program, from there on to the exclusive Herbie Hancock Institute (formerly Thelonious Monk Institute). For the latter program, Eytan was elected by a panel of living Jazz legends – including Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock himself – becoming the first ever harmonica player to join the program. Over the years, and in line with his geographical origin, Eytan has developed his unique musical style – spiced with a wide range of cultures, from our middle east and Andalusian music, through maqam played on a specialty quarter-tone harmonica built for him, all the way to fusion and traditional American songbook Jazz. This performance will feature new tunes from his final year at the Hancock Institute. Prepare to be swept after his virtuosic and expressive harmonica playing, where original tunes and modern adaptations invite you to visit the realm of Israeli Jazz ambassadors worldwide.
