Gilad Kahana “Striving for the Present” – soul links to the film adaptation of “A Tale of Love and Darkness”

In 2015 Amos Oz’s iconic “A Tale of Love and Darkness” was adapted into film by Natalie Portman. Gilad Kahana, portraying Oz’s father alongside Portman, continues his story in the festival with an original piece as part of “Striving for the Present” – a series of shows in which Kahana delivers freestyle improvisations on his ideas and thoughts.
In this show, the man of letters perpetually striving for the present will regale the audience with reveries revved up with electronic beats inspired by Oz, the man of letters facing the past by telling the story of his childhood in Jerusalem against the backdrop of British Mandate.
Joining the journey is Guy Moses, a multi-disciplinary guitarist and musician interested primarily in the merging of art forms (modern dance, acrobatics, performance), all incased by the musical production, which plays an important role in the show and the audience experience.
This special night will see the debut of a show relating to the past-present-and maybe also the future, on the family then and now, both Oz’s and Kahana’s, and on the powers of the written and the spoken word.
