“The Story that was Not Told” original audio-visual production: Billy Levy @ Shotnez

The Shotnez ensemble, established by the founders of the Balkan Beat Box, Tamir Muskat and Ori Kaplan, with an all-star team including Uri Kinrot from Boom Pam and Itamar Ziegler from The Backyard, bring us a soundtrack of rhythmic instrumental film music – film noir meets Greek melodies. Latino meets Tarantino and Serf and crowd-revving instrumentals. In a different time, Shotnez would be a cult band in the downtown bars and clubs of New York, but we get to hear them here in Israel. After the past year’s experience of dozens of cancellations in Europe, this summer in Israel members of the ensemble are pumped up and ready to perform the perfect evening for fans of quality music.
Based on the music of the Shotnez ensemble, the director Billy Levy-Nobleman created a series of video works which combine into a single crazy story of visiting the museum. What do we ask for when encountering art? After all, art cannot always be intellectually explained and doesn’t always offer a sense of rhyme and reason in daily life and yet, you can’t do without it.
The story of the museum visitor, Yankale Pilzer (choreography and performance) who one day enters the Israel Museum only to emerge from it forever transformed by the experience.
Levy-Nobleman, who directed the previous jazz festival and created an exhilarating mosaic which incorporated works from the museum, is back this year with a show that will close the first evening.  As a respected musician, director, and VJ, this is her optimal creative environment which allows for a winning combination of all her passions. This time, the lens of her camera captures works from the Africa and Oceania gallery, and Anish Kapoor’s work, Turning the World Upside Down.
