Nigun Quartet

Israel

It is a universal truth that every jazz musician has their own unique way of playing (nigun). Members of the quartet have been playing together for years at various opportunities, celebrations and recordings in different styles, but the jazz always brought them together as musicians and friends. The eclecticism and interplay of elements bridge between worlds with which the ensemble creates new Jewish music inspired by ancient nigun melodies and jazz arrangements combining funk, Balkan music, and even jungle into Hassidic group grooves. “This is the job God gave us, collecting sacred sparks” says the sax player Tom Lev, and we are the better for it.
