The Jonathan Volchok Quartet – Elevation

Unique trombonist Jonathan Volchok had been performing from a young age with the best of musicians in Israel and abroad, mainly in New York, where he studied and played with James Moody, Randy Barker, Paquito D’Rivera, Billy Harper, Roy Hargrove and was a permanent member of the all-stars ensemble named after Dizzy Gillespie and the trombone ensembles of Slide Hampton. He has two albums under his belt and an impressive track of collaborative creating and maturing alongside the pianist Yonatan Riklis, and with those who used to be their students and are now live and create alongside them – Eviatar Slivnik (drums) and Elam Friedlander (double bass), connections which have consolidated with time into a remarkable ensemble. The resulting special atmosphere creates an experience that is intimate, energetic and free, and will grant the public a glimpse of Volchok’s distinctive compositional manner that has become part of his signature style.
