Eden Ladin - Mirage

IsraelEden Ladin | Yonatan Albalak | Yonatan Levi | Dan Mayo

The harder and more difficult life becomes, the more reason there is for Mirage to turn music into a refuge, a safe haven – to blow off steam, to express themselves, and sometimes to just be silly. According to pianist and band leader Eden Ladin, this safe space is of utmost importance. A new performance comprised of Ladin’s compositions, played with a fabulous quartet, is influenced by nostalgic memories of 90’s TV, video games, and children’s lullabies. The group’s goal is to set off on a journey to the past, raising spirits high and conjuring up youthful optimism, and above all – creating a safe space for some healthy mischief and tomfoolery in these troubled times. The pieces in this show were written to be a kind of medicine or treatment for complex and unclear feelings. Short and playful on the one hand, the underlying layer is a raging current of harmonic complexity. These contrasting elements go hand in hand throughout the show, holding between them those blessed moments of respite that only music can allow.
