Mark Moshayev Ensemble Bless

heartIsrael

A meeting between musical traditions through a contemporary instrumental language, alive and evolving in real time, brought to us by one of the most influential drummers in our regions. After years of accompanying and guiding the best musicians and drummers in Israel, Mark Moshayev arrives with a new work of compositions combining the language of jazz and Western harmony with the traditional structures of classical Indian music.

The Indian Raga is a system of sounds and a melodic structure that are a fully emotional and mindful space. It’s a starting point and a space for exploration, deepening, and development through which an emotional arc of tension and release is built between intimacy and energetic eruption. Tala are rhythmic time cycles, a framework in which happens musical expression, defining an internal pulse for the work with a sense of circular motion, in which constant repetition charges every cycle with renewed meaning.

These two principles stand at the heart of a performance where polyrhythm and improvisation are not ornamentation, but a fundamental part of the dialogue between the ensemble players: Mark Moshayev, guitarist Omri Porat, Bansuri player Madhav Haridas, and Ido Gafni on the Tabla. Each an independent voice within a comprehensive fabric of listening and responding in live communication.

Together, they create an ensemble experience that is one organic unit and take us on a cyclical and evolving sonic journey, in a work that seeks to blur stylistic boundaries and offer an artistic experience where ancient tradition receives a contemporary, vibrant, precise, and deep expression.
