Dudu Tassa & The Al-Kuwaitis Sisters

Israel

For nearly a decade, Dudu Tassa has explored his family’s origins in depth through music, pacing in the steps of brothers Saleh & Daoud Al-Kuwaity (his grandfather

and great-uncle), who were among the greatest musicians of Iraq and the entire Arab world. This thorough research has thus far produced three outstanding albums by Dudu Tassa and The Kuwaitis: Each one a meeting of the past and present – classic recordings of the Al-Kuwaity brothers layered with dynamic new music. Iraqi-Middle Eastern music meets tantalizing Israeli Rock.

Their debut album quickly met incredible success, and landed the group a tour – opening for Radiohead. On both followup albums, Tassa dives into a sea of colorful family artistic creation, pulls some pearls out of that sea, and extracts their creative center of gravity – covered by colorful contemporary production.

Now we get to witness as these family ties are exposed and take root even deeper: For the first time ever, the women of the family get onstage. The Al-Kuwaity Sisters (daughters of Daoud) will perform their father’s music, and wrap their unique voices around his songs. With a band of 12 creative musicians, headed by Tassa and the sisters – we are in for a celebration, an historic moment, and a fascinating view into music rich with colors, shades and sounds. A real Rock’n’Roll spectacle.
