Boom Pam & Kutiman feat. Melike Sahin

Israel | Turkey

Original Production

The veteran Israeli surf-rock band (Balkan-Eastern-Groove), Boom Pam, hosts the musical magician and video artist, Kutiman. The show will feature Turkish singer and composer Melike Sahin, presenting a “Mediterranean Arabesque” repertoire laced with oriental psychedelia, R&B, pop and electronica.
Sahin burst onto the scene as a member of the alternative Turkish lineup, “BaBa ZuLa.” Since then, she has taken off on a meteoric solo career. Her songs grace, among other things, the soundtrack of French director Tony Gatlif’s film, Djam, which premiered at the last Cannes Film Festival. In 2020, she composed “Malka VeMelech” with Kutiman, a single that was recorded in both Hebrew (Shai Tsabari) and Turkish (Sahin) versions and was a great success.
The festival’s current collaboration – a weave of Eastern European Balkan beats, an electric guitar that will trill your soul, Mediterranean rhythms, and danceable party grooves – is further evidence of the growing ties between Israeli and Turkish musicians and creators, especially in the alternative scene, most notable of which being the fruitful collaboration between Boom Pam the legendary Turkish protest singer Selda Bağcan.
