Amir Bresler Quartet
One of the most esteemed and busy drummers in the country Amir Bresler has played and recorded with leading musicians such as Kutiman, Omer Klein, Avishai Cohen and Daniel Zamir.
His first solo album, House of Arches, which will be launched at the Jerusalem Jazz Festival, is a big bang of tremendous creative forces gathered at the peak of the covid-19 pandemic for a stormy recording session, a wizardry of beats wrapped in a mesmerizing groove. The free improvisation sessions around Bresler’s throbbing beats included keyboardist and producer Rejoicer, Yemen Blues leader Ravid Kahalani, double bassist Gilad Abro, pianist Nomok and trumpeter Sefi Zisling. The result: a rare gem of volcanic musical eruption that has crystalized into a complex, brilliant and energetic album.
With technique, rhythm and endless talent, Bresler sweeps the audience from a wave of punk to another of psychedelic jazz. Fast, precise and sharp, as he usually is, with luxurious stylistic variety and extraordinary creative depth, he invites the audience to a rhythmic, sensual and danceable experience.
Bresler is associated with the experimental-electronic-afrobeat-groove-hip-hop-chill Tel Aviv label Raw Tapes. A devout believer in combining forces, Bressler has collaborated with diverse ensembles – L.B.T, the Omer Klein trio, Hod Moshonov (Bemet) and the fine ensemble, Liquid Saloon, which he formed together with Sefi Zisling and Noam Havkin (Nomok).
The fine ensemble appearing alongside Bresler on the festival stage will consist of percussionist Roni Ivrin, bassist Gilad Abro and Gershon Waiserfirer on the trumpet and oud. A world premiere of a phenomenon, “Bresler does things with his hands that the eyes have no time to process.”
