On stage, Matt Wilson is like a little kid excited to play with a new toy: playful, smiling, and beaming with his love for music.
Throughout his career, Wilson (drums) played with the greatest Jazz musicians and this in 2018 he received the Jazz Journalists Association Musician of the Year Award. His latest album, Honey and Salt: Music Inspired by the Poetry of Carl Sandburg was JJA’s 2018 Album of the Year, received a 5-star review from All About Jazz, and was dubbed “a masterpiece” by DownBeat.
Wilson will visit the festival for two shows with two different ensembles:
A trio that brings together three giants of Jazz – two Israelis and one Matt Wilson: Avishai Cohen on the trumpet and Barak Mori on the bass. The exciting trio will blend together Cohen’s and Wilson’s original materials into an extraordinary show that is sure to soar to fascinating heights.
The other show – Matt Wilson Quartet Fri, 14.12 , 13:00, Modern Art gallery
