The Roee Ben Sira Trio offers a tribute to Antônio Carlos Jobim, the Brazilian master composer of the bossa nova, in a performance featuring arrangements of Jobim’s works, choro classics, and original music in a production created especially for the Festival.
Roee Ben Sira, the pianist and arranger of the trio, recently returned from a year-long stay in Brazil, where he studied choro, a musical form that makes its listeners feel as if they are at the very heart of Brazil’s landscape and culture. Galleria, the cultural supplement of Haaretz, listed Ben Sira’s latest album, recorded in Rio de Janeiro, among the best ten albums of 2015.
Moving melodies, rich harmonies, and catchy rhythms are what you will hear in this performance, since the beat goes on….
