Eternal rocker Assaf Amdursky celebrates the 10th anniversary of his seminal album “Harei At” (“Thou Art”) in a special collaboration with Yellow Submarine’s Jazz project “Non-Standards“.
Amdursky started his career in the 1980s in the band Taarovet Escot, with Jango and Yirmi Kaplan, broke out as a successful solo artist in the 1990s, and has been a staple on the Israeli playlist ever since. Amdursky’s fifth solo album, “Harei At” centers on failed relationships and separation, and features hits like Genesis, Train to the North, and Surfing.
Launched by Yellow Submarine in 1999, “Non Standards” hosts different artists with unique Jazz arrangements of their music. Currently directed by pianist and arranger Tomer Bar, the project has collaborated with a long list of prominent musicians, including Alon Oleartchik, Yoni Rechter, Shlomi Shaban, Efrat Gosh, Shlomo Gronich, Mika Karni, Maor Cohen and others. The International Jazz Festival in Jerusalem has hosted two captivating “Non-Standards” shows with legendary singer Rickie Lee Jones and enchanting musician Keren Ann. The ensemble includes Tomer Bar (piano, arrangements and musical direction), Ofri Nehemiah (drums), Yurai Oron (Bass), Nitzan Bar (guitar), Tamar Frankel (harp).
